Dr. Matt Jordan - ZOOM
Dean of Humanities - Cuyahoga Community College

Matthew C. Jordan is the dean for humanities at The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Humanities Center at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®).  A graduate of Hudson High School, he returned to our community with his family in 2019.  Jordan is a national leader in honors education, publishing and presenting widely in the discipline as well as in the areas of ethics and philosophy of religion. He has also served as conference referee for several national philosophy conferences and academic philosophical journals.  Previously, he had served as director of the University Honors Program and deputy dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Auburn University at Montgomery in Alabama.

He will be addressing the role of higher education with respect to tribalism and civic disagreement in America today.  For those os us who are committed to pluralism and civil disagreement, the world of American higher education gives us some reasons to worry, but also procides reasons for optimism.  Dr. Jordan will talk about both sides of that issue and offer some thoughts on where we should go from here.
