This Wednesday, February 5th, we will be celebrating our 2024-2025 year of The Magic of Rotary. January will be focused on Youth and Education. Thank you to Tom Tobin for arranging our speakers.

He also worked for six years as the principal of Highland High School in Medina County's Highland Local Schools. He spent 15 years as an English teacher and three as an athletic administrator at Copley High School, and one year as an assistant principal at Strongsville High School.
Mr. Addis facilitates an Aspiring Superintendent's Cohort through the Summit County Educational Service Center. He is a member of the Northeast Ohio Dream Team Innovation Leadership Team and a graduate of the Ohio School Leadership Institute Program, a collaborative effort of state superintendents. Mr. Addis earned his Bachelor of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications from Kent State University and his Master's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Akron.
An avid fan of all Cleveland sports teams, Mr. Addis enjoys attending sporting events. He and his wife, Laura, are the proud parents of three grown children.
Past Meeting
Marty Bach, Emily G, Gina Von Ville, and Aidan C. from the HHS Service Learning. Aidan initial assignment was to the Happy Trails Animal Sanctuary working with abused and abandoned animals. He currently is volunteering with Akron's Bravo Program which pairs him with adults with special needs. Emily G. is hoping to become a nurse and her initial service locations was Crossroads Hospice where she helped residents create Life Journals. She is now volunteering at a food pantry where she is stocking food items and helping clients.
Dave Roasa from the Grove City Rotary club shared the role that Rotary plays in both supporting and staffing Disaster Aid USA headquartered in Maryland. Last year the Ohio team responded to 5 events (2 within Ohio and 3 out of state). This is a newer Rotary initiative begun in 2010. Ohio has one trailer that is essentially a traveling toolbox that helps provide the equipment needed to assist those in need. The most recent trip was to Greenville, TN in response to extensive hurricane damage. Partnering with Operation Blessing, they were providing 200+ meals daily and involved in "mucking and gutting" (removing furniture, cabinets, drywall, etc. damaged by flooding so that remediation work can be begun). 30% of their volunteers are women. It is a goal to establish a committee within each Rotary District and have a Zone responsible for that state's trailers. If you are interested in joining the committee for District 6630, please check out their website. It's time to roll up our sleeves!
