This Wednesday, January 29th, we will be celebrating our 2024-2025 year of The Magic of Rotary. January will be focused on Health and Wellness. Thank you to Jim Ahern for arranging our January Speakers.
Dave Roasa from the Grove City Rotary club will be sharing the role that Rotary plays in both supporting and staffing "Disaster Aid" headquartered in Maryland via Zoom. Rotary clubs have supported as well as staffed the 12 cargo rescue trailers in Ohio. Every member of the Disaster Aid Board of directors are Rotarians. Dave will share the DA operations and goals for District 6630.
Disaster Aid USA is a Rotary club project that operates with Rotary's guiding principles, It grew to become a 501c3 non-profit in 2010 and provides humanitarian aid and disaster relief to victims of natural disasters. To date, our teams have been involved in over 78 domestic and 91 world wide deployments.
Dave Roasa is Disaster Aid's Zone 30 Director, he has been working with DAUSA (Disaster Aid USA) since 2017 and has been on 17 domestic deployments. He and his wife Jan are on the DAUSA board of directors. They are working to increase awareness of DAUSA and what Rotarians can do to help in a time of a disaster.
Dave Roasa is currently a Real Estate Agent after working 30+ years in IT Sales. Dave and his wife, Jan have three children and 4 grandchildren. He enjoys bicycling and boating.
Past Meeting
Seven (7) hearty members came out with the temperature registering in at -12 degrees. Most members joined via Zoom when Dr. Haidy Kamel shared information about Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). These concepts encompasses a wide range of practices, with natural products and dietary interventions playing a pivotal role. She explored the marketplace for supplements and natural foods that enhance wellbeing. She also explained the current role of government supervision of these products.
...HHS Service Learning will be joining us on Jan 29.
...PP Terri Bortnik is collecting funds for the Salvation Army efforts to assist California Fire and Hurricane victims.
...It's Rotary Election Week. Look for paper ballots at the sign in table this Wednesday and help us form the new leadership team. Those unable to vote in person are encouraged to vote via an email to President Kelly.
...The Club Board of Directors will hold their next meeting on Wednesday, February 5th.
...The Hudson Rotary Foundation Board of Directors will hold their next meeting on Wednesday, February 12th.
...The Gala Committee will have its initial meeting for the May 16th Gala this Friday, January 31st at noon at the Hudson Community Foundation Board Room. All interested committee members are invited to attend.
