Hudson City Council Ward 4 Candidate Debate

Councilman Scott Ruffer was appointed to serve the residents of Ward 4 in February, 2023 replacing Beth Bigham.  He is a graduate of Bowling Green Unviersity and served in the US Air Nat'l Guard from 05/88 to 07/98.  He is a regional sales director for Mersive Technology and has extensive experience working in direct sales and channel development in the IT market (government, medical, and commercial).  He lives in Hudson with his wife and family.

Michael Bird, M.D., MPH is a Hudson Ward 4 resident for 23 years.  His two children attended and graduated from Hudson School.  He is a pediatrician at Akron Children's Hospital specializing in pediatric emergency medicine.  He also serves as a vice president of patient and staff safety with 20+ years working in healthcare operations, quality improvement and patient safety.  Responsible for multi-million dollar budgets, and leading teams that improved processes and reduced errors.  His hobbies include biking and hiking, especially in Hudson.  He has served with Hudson EMS, the Hudson Library Board, Leaderhsip Hudson Class of 2016, the Hudson School Safety Committee, Hudson Senior Neetwork, the Laurel Lake Board of Directors and has been a volunteer ski patroller at Boston Mills and Brandywine.
