The Rotary Club of Hudson Gala Committee is planning for its 33rd annual fundraising event May 19 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Twinsburg Hilton Garden Inn.
 
Last year’s record setting event was attended by 275 citizens and raised over $50,000 by auctioning 250 gifts from numerous local individuals, businesses and services.

Beneficiaries of the Gala and Auction in 2017 will be:
  • Hudson Community First --which is launching a new comprehensive program entitled “What Every Senior Needs to Know Before Going to College”. A workshop will examine the difficulties young people face as they leave high school, including anxiety and depression, date rape, binge drinking, drugs and overall safety.
  • The Gift of Life--program of Northeast Ohio that provides funds for needed heart surgery for struggling children in underdeveloped countries, Haiti in particular. Doctors from our area, some of whom live in Hudson, along with local hospitals donate their skills and service.
  • Hattie Larlham Foundation--providing the best care possible for persons with developmental disabilities, will use the funds to purchase Airvo @ humidifiers to help children with disabilities breathe easier by clearing their airways.
 
Major gifts contributed for the auction to date include:
  • A two-hour summer boat cruise on Lake Erie for 6 guests, starting at the Vermilion Yacht Club with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on board and dinner to follow, courtesy of Tom and Barbara McDonald.
                                                                       
  • A one month use of a late model Corvette, courtesy of Don Sitts Auto Group in Cuyahoga Falls.
  • One week’s lodging at a Breckenridge, Colorado ski-in, ski-out mountainside townhome during the prime winter season, courtesy of Kristina Roegner.
                                                   
  • Three nights stay at Five Forks River Retreat on 17 acres along the Allegheny River in Tionesta, Pa. which sleeps eight and offers exciting river sports, courtesy of Hudson Financial Advisors.
                                                                      
 
There are many ways to support this premier event:
  • Sponsor the Gala with a $1500 contribution which will provide recognition and an ad in the Auction program, a press release and a table for 10 guests at the Gala dinner.
  • Donate a gift of $100 minimum value to be auctioned during the silent or live auctions. All categories are acceptable including Getaway Experiences, Sports and Exercise, Art and Music, Dining, Health and Beauty, Home and Garden, Tech and Office Equipment.
  • Attend the Gala activities for $90 per person to include open bar the entire evening, hor d’oeuvres, a full course dinner with dessert and participation in the auctions.
  • Advertise in the Auction booklet and on the Gala Auction website(by Gesture) starting at $200 for a half page or banner.
