The Rotary Club of Hudson announced that five new members will join the community service organization, including two with distinguished service records in other Rotary clubs.
                                                                
The inductees are:
 
John Hopkins, born in Cleveland and a graduate of Georgetown University Business School, enjoyed a 35 year business career in the Great Lakes shipping industry for The Interlake Steamship Company. He was responsible for the company’s marketing and sales direction, developing new business, negotiating transportation contracts and supervising the traffic department.
 
John was involved in numerous professional organizations, including The Lake Carriers Association, the Traffic Committee of the American Iron and   Steel Institute, President of The Lake Erie Maritime Council and Treasure of the Council of Lake Erie Ports. He also served as President of the Dads Club at Western Reserve Academy in 1995 and 1996.
 
John and his wife Debbie are 32 year residents of Hudson with three sons and six grandchildren. John is retired and enjoys golf and fishing in South Florida.
 
Sue Carter, long time Hudson resident and graduate of Hudson High School, earned a BSBA degree from East Carolina University. Sue’s husband, Jay, is a graduate of Western Reserve Academy and they have two sons, one at Kent State and the other at Miami University of Ohio.
 
After college, Sue worked for Key Bank where she was a VP/Great Lakes Region Service Manager. She is currently a Shift Officer/Paramedic with Hudson EMS where she has served the community since 1979.
 
Sue’s passion and goal is to give back to her community where she has been active as a school volunteer as VIP co-coordinator at HHS, President of Hudson PTO, co-chair of the Pancake Breakfast and involved in the Booster Club. She is also on the Board of the HPSEF, VP of the Hudson City Schools Foundation and active in Hudson Community First as chair of the Community of Concern committee focusing on drug addiction/education.
 
Richard Nebiolo, grew up in Linden, NJ and Langhorne, Pa and then earned a Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science degree from Drexel University followed by an M.S. from Carnegie Mellon University in the same field. Richard enjoyed a 50 year career in the specialty steel industry, mainly with Latrobe Steel, but also with Timken Co. and Republic Steel in Canton. He retired as Director of Technology in 2015.
 
Richard and his wife Lynne have lived in Hudson for 31 years raising two daughters who graduated from Hudson H.S. and then each graduating Summa cum Laude from college. They have a granddaughter who is a junior at Hudson H.S. and who recently won a Rotary scholarship. He also has two grandchildren living near Cincinnati.
 
Leisure time for Richard is spent cycling locally and in the CVNP, hiking, traveling and volunteering in the community. He is excited to be a new member of Hudson Rotary and looks forward to contributing time to its many charitable projects.
 
Ralph Day was raised in Maple Heights, OH graduating from high school in 1954. He then earned a BA in Math at Ohio Wesleyan University advancing to Case Institute of Technology for a BS in Management Science. After completing three years as a data processing officer at McGuire Air Force Base, NJ, he earned an MBA in Marketing from the Harvard Business School.
 
Ralph’s first job was a market research analyst at Polaroid and later moved to new product development at Pillsbury and Campbell Soup. Then he became the first Director of Development and Marketing at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Later he served as principal in his own consulting firm, an officer in a consumer advertising firm and Marketing Director for a high tech startup.
 
Selected to be a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Riga, Latvia Ralph had “a life changing college teaching experience for six months”. His not for profit board experiences included the Ohio Wesleyan University Alumni Board, the HBS Club of Philadelphia and the Swarthmore, Pa Rotary Club. He and his late wife, KayAnne have two children, Bryan and Karen and five grandchildren. Ralph lives in the Laurel Lake Retirement Community.
